Probably like most other manufactures we all have deep love for music and the reproduction of music. Dating my self I started building Heath kits and dyno equipment and modifying it when I was a teenager. When I went in to the Air Force I was in electronic section several of the officers had nice pieces of equipment, Audio Research SP-3 preamplifier and D-50 and D-75 Amplifiers. So I started repairing their equipment and one thing lead to another. I couldn’t afford the better equipment but I could design and build audio equipment so that was how I cut my teeth in to high-end audio. One thing lead to another friends started asking me to repair their equipment then modify it. Then I was building new pieces of equipment for people, before long by word of mouth people was call from all over the country. At that Time I was an Engineer at a nuclear plant and had access to nice test equipment, on occasions I would runs tests and noticed deficiencies in the cables. I started building mathematical models and playing with them in the computers. After coming of with some interesting designs I build and tried them. At this point I realized the weakness interconnects and speaker cables presented and started working to correct them in my own system. Many years after the demand for my cables had grown to a point of now I had two jobs and I had too decide on one. Well we decided on Purist Audio Design.

JIM AUD, C.E.O of Purist Audio Design, holds degrees in electrical engineering and computer science and has also studied nuclear physics and material science. Driven by his love of music, Jim began building his own audio equipment while still a student. In 1986 he founded Purist Audio Design in order to direct his broad knowledge in the sciences into his quest for music reproduction befitting a purist's exacting standards. Jim works his magic from his laboratory in Clute, Texas, where he lives with his family.

The Cable Industry in general is very interesting each month as I get new magazines new cable companies appear. I feel competion is a good thing it tends to make one stay shape and never let ones guard down. Of course this can be said for speakers and equipment manufactors also. As I look at each new cable manufactor their are strengths and weakness in the design. Just like the Strenghts and weakness in my designs it basically a balancing acting to provide the most strengths with the fews weakness to the customers at a given price point.

The "question" of cable prices and the understanding Cable Pricing. To understand the pricing we will go through making a cable. First we come up with a design ideal, then it goes to Resesrch and Develop. Protype have to be made then tests have to be run. Then the product will go to beta testers for testing, feedback will be obtained. R&D will make changes or not if changes are made then back to beta testers, for more feedback, this process has gone through as many 5 cycles. Once R&D is done a Production samples are made, manuels and training with QC points are put in place for the new cable. CNN lave & mill are programmed, a Name for the new cable and Advertising are brought in to play. Dealers & Distrubors are consulted about the new product and send advanced product. Plus operation overhead electric, taxes, water, gasoline etc has to be factor into the cost.

So it will come down too four major areas:

Labor cost to build product and ship

Advertising

Operation overhead

As you see it no differerent from any other industry.
